About TRIM Using the tutorial Definitions Resources FAQ

This tutorial presents a model for the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of staff development and program planning activities. The model is based on a process approach and is not tied to any particular content. It has been used to develop training for professionals and paraprofessionals from a variety of disciplines and in numerous content areas. The model is most useful to those interested in training that results in skill level outcomes.

The training workshop covers:

  • how to assess staff training needs;
  • how to identify desired training outcomes and competencies;
  • how to develop objectives for a training session;
  • how to organize a workshop to maximize training through various learning modes;
  • how to conduct effective follow-up in the classroom; and
  • how to effectively evaluate training (during and following a session).
