Employment
Obligation
OTRM
scholarship recipients are required by the federal Transition to Teaching
program to teach fulltime for a minimum of three years in an approved
high-need K-12 school identified by OTRM for Oregon, or in an eligible
high-need school in another state. Teachers must also:
- Perform
consecutive teaching years once the candidate begins the teaching
service until the obligation is fulfilled.
- Begin
the first school year of eligible fulltime teaching service in an
approved, high-need K-12 school within twelve (12) months from the
date the candidate becomes eligible to receive teaching credentials.

Provide any required employment verification establishing compliance
with the above requirements.
- Agree
that failure to comply with any item (1, 2, 3 or 4) will result
in a requirement to repay the Scholarship funds received.

Teach For America is a national teacher corps of dedicated individuals
from all academic majors and cultural backgrounds who commit two
years to teach in under-resourced urban and rural public schools
(currently in 13 locations, none in Oregon). Teach for America
makes a particular effort to recruit math, science, and engineering
majors and minors and bilingual Spanish speakers.
