| Bringing families, schools, and local communities together in support of children's reading enjoyment, achievement, and success! | |
About the InitiativeResearch demonstrates what a difference a family makes when they are involved in their child's reading education. This year The Office of Student Partnerships and Learning's State Improvement Grant for Special Education, the Oregon Parent Training and Information Center and Oregon's Reading First Team are pleased to announce an exciting professional development opportunity designed to increase levels of family involvement in their children's reading education. Family Partnerships for ReadingParticipation in this initiative is open to all schools. Educators and related professionals are free to determine what level they wish to participate in the e-learning series and technical assistance. In addition to the dedicated pages for families, those who wish to participate in the e-learning series are more than welcome. Our major focus centers on the needs of students struggling to reach Reading First's primary goal: all children will become readers by the end of third grade. In building on family strengths, we aim to ensure educators and families alike receive the extra assistance they need to ensure all children's reading enjoyment, achievement and success.
