About Us

Advocacy

OACCD represents you on a wide range of local and state-wide committees where policies and decisions that impact the child care community are made. OACCD is your voice for the legislature, the Commission for Child Care, the Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education, the Child Care Division, Stand for Children, Oregon Commission for Children and Familes and more.

Membership in OACCD provides access to an organization whose purpose is to bring the voice of direct service providers to the national and state child care policy dialogue. As a member, lend your voice to an organization whose experience is recognized by professionals and law makers. You are also encouraged to join the advocacy efforts on local, state and national issues through newsletters and up-to-date information on pending legislative issues relating to child care.

Education

OACCD presents educational opportunities twice a year, in May and November. The annual Spring Conference , specifically for directors, offers two days of professional training, a keynote speaker, networking events planned to build relationships with other directors, and time for fun and relaxation. The Fall Conference is held on a Saturday in November. It provides a one day professional development opportunity for directors and their staff, as well as time to be together as a staff in a relaxed setting.

In addition, local affiliate members can work together to provide training events designed for specific interests or needs. OACCD has also collaborated on other events and conferences on a state or national level with OAEYC, OSAC, and NAEYC. OACCD members receive substantial discounts on training events and conferences and a quarterly newsletter , Managing for Our Children, which expands knowledge with new perspectives and ideas.

Suppport

We do what you do! Join OACCD's network of professionals and share your expertise and needs while gaining cooperative support from individuals who know what you experience each day. Have you filled in for your cook, fixed a clogged drain, worked an especially long day, or driven the center van to pick up school age children? We can relate, encourage, provide support, and brainstorm new ideas.

Local affiliate groups enable child care professionals to meet on a regular basis in order to provide support, education, and networking opportunities. Each affiliate group sets its own schedule of discussion topics. If no affiliate group exists in you area, OACCD provides the opportunity to organize one. Please call one of the regional contacts (listed below) with any questions about the OACCD Affiliate program or membership questions.
